Rustic DIY Kitchen Renovation With Modern Elements

After a few months of work, our rustic kitchen renovation was complete. This was our first large home project, and it was definitely a learning experience. We are so happy with the results! I included some before pictures, from when we first moved in for comparison.

Flooring – We bought the flooring from my mom, she had purchased it for her house and ended up not needing it, so we were happy to take it off her hands! We ended up spending only around $550 for 1000 sq ft! My fiance put these in himself using laminate planks, it looks very similar to these Vinyl Flooring Planks.

Paint – The paint was Valspar Interior High Hide Latex Paint.. This paint is fabulous. It covered wonderfully, so much so that in a lot of spots we only had to do 1 coat. The colors we used were Steely Gray and Monochrome.

Decor – The picture frames I got from Etsy. The shop I bought them from is currently closed, but you can find similar Barn Wood White Picture Frames on Amazon. The framed artwork itself, I purchased from a local artist.

I found these great metal “eat” and drink signs to hang on one of the walls.

I hung these boho macrame plant hangers to fill in the gap on the other side of the chimney.

To fill them, I used a little floral foam and Spanish moss on top to fill the rest of the way. I wanted very full hanging plants, and these String of Pearls and ivy fit perfectly in the space.

We were able to borrow a lot of the tools from my fiances father, which helped us out a ton. We were able to achieve a complete budget-friendly transformation, with just a few cosmetic changes.
